Note: Span is different than "MAX" Span. the maximum span is the total possible span, allowing for a minimum distance on each side (seat) in contact with the foundation.

Example: A 12' bridge that requires 12" (1') on each end to be in contact with the foundation, will have a max span of 10' - but can be less. The length of the seat cut has no bearing on the max span.
