Sometimes referred to as rafters or joists, our runners are placed on top of the beams to form the main part of the pergola roof. The main runners consist of 2x6 Kiln Dried Lumber (actual size is 1½" x 5½")which are hand selected, cut, sanded and will resist twisting and warping for years to come with minimal maintenance. They are spaced 16" on center.

The top runners are 2x2 Kiln Dried Lumber (actually 1½" x 1½") that screw to the top of the main runners. This forms the "lattice" look of the pergola. For a more customized look, you can space the top runners closer than the standard 16" on center. For even more shade, you may choose a lattice top, either on top of the top runners, or in place of them. Feel free to discuss this option with your Project Advisor.
