Pressure Treated Pine
Modern pressure treating of lumber has virtually done away with the inefficiencies and objections of its predecessors. Treated lumber is now environmentally friendly, and has become the wood of choice for any outdoor project as harmful chemicals have been removed from the process.

We use #1 Treated Southern Yellow Pine that is KDAT – Kiln Dried after Treating – so that the moisture content is 19% or below. This all but eliminates the chances of warping or twisting. It also means that the wood can be stained or painted immediately, without the required waiting time of up to six months for non KDAT lumber.

The ACQ treatment requires new galvanized or stainless steel fasteners, which are included in our kits.

The treatment also does not change the color of the wood like the old CCA green lumber. It will maintain a more natural look, only slightly different than the original color of the lumber.

Any lumber used outdoors should be stained, and treated pine is no exception. As the sun further dries the outer layers of the wood, small hairline cracks known as checks, will develop. These will not affect the strength of the lumber. Also over time, dirt settling in the pores of the wood will help to turn the wood gray. This rustic look is actually a desired look to some, but to keep the wood looking new and the checks to a minimum, a clear wood sealer or stain will slow mother nature's effects. We offer stain and paint so feel free to discuss this with your Project Advisor for our ramadas, and most of our other treated pine products.
